“What Happened in House Number 46” was a really fun but somewhat disturbing project that I directed and edited for the first time back in 2021. It was right after we were finally allowed to mingle with friends without masks. After a year of online classes in film school, we were buzzing to have fun with a camera.

Originally titled “The Final Girl,” this short was inspired by the question: What would make me leave my house in the middle of a pandemic?

Ideas started to flow about voiceless victims of domestic violence and their inability to leave their households; the “Final Girl” trope of slasher films; loss of innocence; and abusive families that one is forced to live with — and so, this silent horror short was created.
